Memorable Scripture: Preventable tragedy

And it came to pass at midnight that the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of livestock. So Pharaoh rose in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead. Exodus 12:29-30

When you watch movies about Moses and the Exodus, you often see the last plague affect only children. And while the death of children is a great tragedy, I believe it involves more.
A firstborn exist in every family.
Applying the idea to just my own family, I’m a firstborn so I’m gone, as is my eldest daughter, two of my grandchildren, my father-in-law, my mother-in-law, my brother-in-law, and my mother.
No wonder there was a great cry in Egypt when no family was left untouched.

The deaths in Egypt were preventable. All a household need do was but the blood of the lamb on the doorposts and lintel.

A future time is coming in which death touches every family again. Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15
It’s not just the firstborn but anyone not found in the Book of Life!
Again, this is preventable when you apply the blood of the Lamb of God to your life.
The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
It is important for those you know and love to receive Jesus as their personal Savior. Only the Blood can save them.
