Psalms 118:22-23
The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone.
This was the Lord’s doing;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
Another verse from the Old Testament fulfilled through the life of Jesus in the New Testament.
You find this scripture referenced in the Gospels through Matt 21:42, Mark 12:10, and Luke 20:17.
Peter used it in Acts 4:11 when questioned about healing a man in the name of Jesus and again in 1 Peter 2:7, where he also writes about believers becoming living stones.
David had no idea about the rejection of Jesus, Who lived 1000 years after him. The Holy Spirit definitely inspired the king in this Psalm, giving him a powerful word for the future.
This “stone” is still rejected by many today. They toss Jesus aside with little thought.
Much like a stonemason might toss aside a bit of rock or brick or a carpenter might throw to the side a scrap of board only to retrieve it later as a key part of the finished work.
Jesus is not only the finished work of the Father, He is the main part that completes the work.
To reject Jesus is to reject God.
Likewise, you should build your life based on this “Chief Cornerstone”. He holds it all together.
