Isaiah 7:10-12
Moreover the Lord spoke again to Ahaz, saying, “Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God; ask it either in the depth or in the height above.”
But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, nor will I test the Lord!”
If God said He would give you a sign and all you need do is ask for it, what would you do?
I would ask, after all, God did offer!
That’s not the case with King Ahaz. He was not a godly king. He did not do what was right in the sight of the Lord his God, as his father David had done. But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel; indeed he made his son pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out from before the children of Israel. And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree. (2 Kings 16:2-4)
No wonder he did not want a sign from God. He was either embarrassed, ashamed or convicted by his actions.
Fast forward to today, many people want a sign from God. They want to see something or feel something before they make any kind of commitment to God.
God graciously agreed to give a sign!
It’s called the sign of Jonah – for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Matt 12:40
He gave the sign.
Time to give Him your commitment.
