Isaiah 54:5
For your Maker is your husband,
The Lord of hosts is His name;
To most men, it is a foreign idea having God say, “I’m your husband!”
Let’s take a look at what He means by this.
God precedes this verse with the redemption of a widow. Her husband is dead and no one wants to take care of her.
He then follows it up by comparing His call to a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit and a youthful wife whose husband left.
For me, God is saying He takes care of us the way a husband should take care of his wife.
He gives love.
He provides.
He protects.
He plans.
He supplies security.
He works and blesses the family.
He is willing to lay down His life for His family.
Indeed, He did!
