Jeremiah 23:30-32
“Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” says the Lord, “who steal My words every one from his neighbor. Behold, I am against the prophets,” says the Lord, “who use their tongues and say, ‘He says.’ Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” says the Lord, “and tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies and by their recklessness. Yet I did not send them or command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all,” says the Lord.
Judah had a similar problem that we face today – stealing the word of God. Judah’s problem came in the form of prophets that God did not send, authorize, or anoint. Yet, these prophets claimed to speak for the Lord.
Today the attack on God’s word today comes from so many sources determined to turn people away from God.
A secular world is not the only thief of God’s word. Those claiming salvation or church membership and fail to live like it also steal God word from others.
As someone once said, “Why should I go to church when the church deacon buys his booze from the same liquor store I do!”
If you want to speak for God then read His word and live it. Instead of stealing the word from others, you will bless them with it.
