In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, but the appointed time was long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision. In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
I remember this scripture from studying about fasting.
I looked for scripture on the subject and the references led me to many places, including Daniel.
He had a message that distressed him. He began to fast and pray seeking solace from God.
It did not immediately come on the first day or the second or third.
Daniel did not relent but held to his fast looking for comfort.
For twenty-one days he held strong.
My first fast in 1977 was for three days.
My second fast twenty years later was for twenty-one days.
It doesn’t matter how long your fast lasts as long as you commit and stand strong in it.
Daniel received his answer.
I received my answers to all my fasts.
You will too.
