Memorable Scripture: Walk away!

Matthew 5:27-28
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Adultery is a serious sin punishable by death under the Law of Moses. (Lev 20:10)
That Law was still in effect during the days of Jesus. (John 8:1-11)
In that instance, Jesus asked the question, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” John 8:7
No one condemned her, including Jesus, Who told her to go and sin no more.
He does not make light of adultery, saying even your very thoughts of lust are equal to the physical act.
Jesus prescribed an elective surgery for a cure – if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; and if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. Matthew 5:29-30
He said it’s better to go through life maimed than to enter hell whole.
Now, I do not recommend gouging out an eye or amputating a hand. The idea is to remove from you what would cause you to sin.
Don’t put yourself in a position for temptation, not just sexually but in all things.
Sometimes you just need to turn around and walk away.
Imagine what would have happened if when the serpent asked Eve, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” (Gen 3:1) if she would have answered the way she did in Gen 3:2 but then walked away!
Sure, sometimes it may seem rude to walk away.
However, the temptation to sin should be treated rudely!
