Matthew 9:18-19
While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.
The man is Jairus, a ruler in the Capernaum synagogue. I’m sure many other rulers and elders in that synagogue were against Jesus. Jairus may have been against Him too but now his twelve-year-old daughter is on the verge of death.
He heard about the miracles and healings of Jesus and seeks his own miracle.
Desperation can make doubt take a step toward faith.
Jairus came, fell at His feet, and worshiped Him.
All he wanted was Jesus to come an lay a hand on his daughter so she would live.
Jesus was willing!
What would make you seek Jesus?
I sought Him for salvation from a lake of fire.
Since that time I’ve sought Him for direction, knowledge, peace, safety, blessings, and my list goes on and on.
Mostly I seek Him every day just so I can worship Him.
It starts with worship and leads to life.
