Memorable Scripture: Encourage others!

Matthew 16:21-23
From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”
But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

There is always someone to disagree with your ministry.
Jesus had them.
Paul had them.
I’ve had them.
I remember telling my dad about my calling to the ministry. He had a lot of negative things to say – “how will you make a living” and “you don’t have the education.”
When I was considering starting Crossroads church, my grandpa asked me, “Tim, don’t we have enough churches already?”
Imagine the reaction if I told dad or grandpa, “Get behind me Satan! You are an offense to me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
Both would be shocked, hurt, and angry.
I imagine Peter felt the same way.
The best thing dad or grandpa could have done is to pray for me. Pray for God’s will be done. If God is in it, it will happen. If not, it will fail.
Our duties as Christians is to encourage our fellow Christians.
