Matthew 24:4-5
“Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”
It’s difficult for me to imagine any believer falling prey to a false Christ. I know He has already come and is due to return in the air.
Yet, there are many following some type of false doctrine claiming ties to Jesus Christ.
They warp His word, twist His meaning, eliminate sin, and present a very different type of salvation.
I believe I come in the name of the Lord in my preaching and teaching but I make no claim to be Christ. I can also admit that I can be wrong. In my preaching I’ll often state something that is my opinion and not actually the way it happened but could have happened. I do not believe I am trying to deceive anyone.
No one is perfect, including me.
But I know the One who is perfect and as the apostle Paul said, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” Phil 3:12
