Matthew 24:36-39
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”
When I first accepted Jesus as my Savior, I really got into the study of His return.
These verses are an essential part of that study.
Now I claim to know the day. I believe His return is on Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets.
Please note the word says “but of that day AND hour no one knows.” I do not think it false to name a day. I have no idea about the hour.
Next is the reference to the days of Noah, every intent of the thoughts of [people’s] heart was only evil continually. Gen 6:5
Did Noah know when it was going to flood?
Perhaps not when he began working on the ark but he did before the flood began.
In Genesis 7 it says God told him to gather everything into the ark because “after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights.” Gen 7:4
Perhaps we, too, will know which Yom Teruah it is the closer it gets.
Here’s a verse I believe helps us be able to know when the Lord will return.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
