Acts 10:43
“…whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
Peter preaches Jesus in the house of Cornelius, ending with today’s scripture.
I believe many misunderstand the verse, especially if you were raised in church.
Perhaps you do believe in Jesus but do you follow and live by that belief?
You hear a lot about remission, mostly tied to someone with cancer. Remission is a reversal of a devastating condition.
I knew a man, years ago, that had liver damage from drinking. He eventually received a transplanted liver but continued to drink.
It killed him.
He received a new life but refused to live according to that new life.
It is the same with the remission of sins – you receive a new life in Christ and your life should adjust to it.
As Paul would later say, “How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?” Rom 6:2
