Memorable Scripture: Asleep in church.

Acts 20:9
And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.

Have you ever fallen asleep in church?
It’s probably happened to all of us. I’ve nodded off a time or two in my early years when I stayed up too late.
I recall the story of a deacon that had his Bible open and head bowed, as if too read but soon fell asleep. His wife punched him in the side and said something like, “The pastor’s gonna ask you to pray!”
Evidently it didn’t translate well in his sleepy state because he stood up in the middle of the service with a dismissal prayer.
I guess that’s better than what happened to Eutychus, who fell asleep and feel out the window.
Paul did pray for him and his life was restored but I bet he never fell asleep in service again.
Many people use Saturday night as a time to party, have fun, and stay out late.
I use Saturday night as an opportunity to prepare myself for the Lord’s day.
Of course, I am the pastor but even when I wasn’t I still prepared for Sunday.
I believe God will bless you if you do the same.
