Memorable Scripture: Another Gospel

Galatians 1:6-7
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.

The Gospel message is simple, especially when it comes from the purity of God’s word.
But people tend to make it very complex with alterations, conditions, and changes.
Paul shared the simple message of the Gospel with the people of Galatia. As soon as he moved on, others came and complicated his message and work.
They told the Galatians they weren’t really saved through Paul’s preaching without doing a few other things.
Salvation comes from grace plus nothing else.
There are no other things.
Salvation is not grace of God plus I go to church or I pay a tithe.
I don’t go to church or give as a condition of salvation; I go because I have received salvation. It is the fruit of what salvation through the grace of God has done in me.
Yet, even today there is a perverting of the gospel of Christ.
This perversion has people working extra chores and good deeds to earn it. You cannot earn salvation. It is a gift from God through grace.
The perversion has people feeling good about themselves and changing their attitude to live better.
I’m all for attitude change but without salvation it does nothing.
Do not just listen to what ministers say (including me) but compare it to the word of God to see if these things are so.
The word of God IS the gospel of Christ.

  1. Some teach you must be clean even as Jesus was clean, and they mean you must be clean shaven.
Others teach you can’t have musical instruments.
Some teach you must be baptised in the Holy Ghost and speak in tongues.
But, as you say, It is by grace that we are saved.
