For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
One of the most well known verses in the Word.
It is the how and why of salvation.
Salvation is from God’s grace alone.
It is a gift.
A gift is given, not as a reward, for then it would be called a reward.
It is not given as a bribe, for then it would be called a bribe.
A gift is given by the generosity of the one that gives.
There is nothing you can do to earn it.
If there were, you could boast about what you did.
You are not saved by acts of kindness, turning over a new leaf, or with a gift of charity.
But after salvation you desire to do acts of kindness and charity.
God prepares you to live as Christ lived.
It is difficult at times but God’s grace continues to see you through it.
Now you can boast about what God has done.
It’s called a testimony and it’s for the glory of God.
