Memorable Scripture: Your own Salvation

Philippians 2:12-13
…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

The first time I read this scripture it seemed to say for me to come up with my way of salvation.
I had to stop and think about it.
Why did I accept Jesus as my Savior if there was some other way?
Because there is no other way.
This verse isn’t about us creating our own way of salvation but it’s about each of us working within that salvation.
In other words, find out what it is God wants you to do and do it.
Perhaps God wants you teaching second grade English. You need to become the best Christian second grade English teacher you can so you can show the light and love of Christ in your class.
It’s not all about become a pastor, deacon, or Sunday school teacher.
It is more about allowing Christ to be the center of your life in all things.
Remember that many things do not mix with Christ as it says in 2 Cor 6:14-16 – Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God.
