Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
I love this scripture! What Paul is saying [to me] is, “I’m not perfect! But I keep moving forward because Christ kept moving forward for me!”
Perfection is a very difficult achievement.
You may feel you’ve got it together and perfect in your character, behavior, mannerisms, and life; but ask the rest of us about it.
Better yet, ask God because His opinion really matters.
Jesus was condemned by those around Him, though He was perfect in God’s sight.
So my perfection does not come from what I can do but what Christ does through me.
For this to happen, as Paul says, I must forget the past and move forward.
Holding on to the past won’t let you stay in the present or move into the future.
Press on! You may feel like you can’t go one more step. You can! Push on. Reach out! Keep going! God’s got this. You can do it!
