Colossians 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
This scripture is close kin to yesterdays scripture of Colossians 3:17.
In between the two you find this:
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.
Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.
These are all relationship oriented because God is all about relationship – your relationship with Him and your relationship with others.
The Law and the Prophets are built upon this precept.
The first four Commandments deal with your relationship to God and the other six with your relationship with others.
Every person is connected to every other person, in one way or another.
And each person is connected to God, created in His image and having Jesus Christ come and die for every person.
Hence the greatest commandment to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and spirit; and to love your neighbor as yourself.
And when you do it, do it heartily, as to the Lord!
1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
