1 Thessalonians 5:26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
I’ve heard about almost my entire life – the holy kiss.
It’s not a command.
After all, a kiss on the cheek was a social greeting of the time.
In fact, there are a few nations in which it is still practiced.
Surely you have seen movies where a Frenchman walks up and kisses both cheeks of some friend.
Today we hug, handshake, or fist bump as a personal greeting.
The key word is holy.
Paul did not say, “Greet all the brethren with a kiss!” He said holy kiss.
Paul said almost the same thing in Romans 16:16.
Holy, to me, means with purity and no other intent in mind.
Your greeting to each other should be genuine and with love.
