Titus 1:12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”
I remember this interesting quote from Paul to Titus.
It’s not very flattering of the occupants of the Isle of Crete.
Paul declares it was one of their own calling his own fellow citizens these things.
It sounds very judgmental but can you term it as such if you judge yourself or your own nation.
It’s like Jeff Foxworthy and his “you might be a Redneck” jokes.
They were funny, somewhat insulting, but mostly true.
Each of them a judgment on how Jeff viewed Redneck life.
While you would like to think the best of your own family, church, school, city, state, or country, the truth is there are always disappointing elements.
Someone is coined the black sheep of the family, the grumbler at work, or the drunk of the community.
Each of us should strive to maintain a good name – A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches. Prov 22:1
