Revelation 7:17 “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
I probably hear this portion of scripture quoted more than the whole.
There is assurance of God taking away your sorrow.
The promise begins with Isaiah who said, “He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces.” Isa 25:8
Death is the most sorrowful thing you will face.
More tears are shed in the graveyard than any other place.
In Revelation, God again promises no more sorrow with today’s scripture and in Rev 21:4 – And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
All three scriptures are predictive – God WILL wipe every tear.
Both Isaiah 25:8 and Rev 21:4 mention an end of death.
Our scripture today is preceded by “They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters.” Rev 7:16-17
There is still much death to come and it will touch you one way or another.
But Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.” John 8:51
You may think about all the times death effected you through the passing of your grandparents, parents, siblings, children, or friends.
Yes, death even has his sights set on you!
Jesus is not really concerned about it. Even He faced death.
But it is the second death that is permanent.
But He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. Rev 2:11
Wipe your tears today and God will wipe them tomorrow!
