An only (but not lonely) child

I am an only child!
I have no brothers and no sisters but I do have many cousins and there is one in particular that I saw quite often as I was growing up, her name is Donna.
At times we were inseparable as we played or got in trouble. She was just about the closest thing to a big sister that I’ve ever had and perhaps I was a little brother to her because she, too, is an only child. Continue reading

Happy Father’s Day

His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Mal 4:6
Today’s Morning Thought is a bit different. I was looking through some archives from 2003 and I found a poem I had written for Father’s Day.
Since Father’s Day is this Sunday, I thought I would repost it!

He left the house before I got up and was gone all day long.
At night I waited at the door for him to come back home. Continue reading

Real Milk or Canned Milk?

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. Continue reading

Better Definition of Hypocrite

I may have to backtrack on one of my statements from yesterday. I said, “Evidently a hypocrite is someone that calls lots of attention to themselves.”
While that may be true from the scripture out of Matthew chapter 6, it is not true from Matt 7:3-5 Continue reading

Don’t be an excuse…be an example!

A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, “Come, the banquet is ready.” But they all began making excuses.
One said, “I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.”
Another said, “’I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.”’
Another said, “I now have a wife, so I can’t come.” Luke 14:16-20 Continue reading

Evidence! I walk by faith!

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.” And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. Stop to help others!

As Meghan turned for home during Saturday’s Ohio Division III girls state meet, she was in last place in the 3,200-meter race with no hope of finishing anywhere near the top. But her last-place finish became the most memorable part of the meet. Continue reading

Hatfield’s and McCoy’s – Anger and Hatred

This was not the biggest feud in American history; nor the bloodiest or longest running feud, but it is the one with the most notoriety.
It is the one feud that most everyone has heard about, if in no other way, by name – the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s. Continue reading

Can I help you find something?

Linda and I were caching with the grandkids on Monday, up near Lake Ray Roberts.
Before the big Texas mega-geocaching event, someone had placed well over 100 geocaches in the area, many of which are on the side of Farm-to-Market roads, so you have to find a place to park. Continue reading
