Now perhaps there are some Christians that believe in some lite-version of karma; maybe we’ll call it karmalite.
Remember that karma is the belief that if you do something evil, then you will get evil in return; and if you do good, you’ll get good in return.
So what good can anyone do? Continue reading
Morning Thought with Pastor Tim
Don’t talk Karma – Talk Jesus
Gal 6:7 – Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
Karma is a belief found in the Buddhist and Hindu religions.
It is the idea that how you live in this life will determine what kind of life you will have in the next life.
In other words, you reap in the next life what you sow in this one. Continue reading
Christ, not Karma!
It is a troubling trend on Facebook.
I see Christians saying things about Karma.
Let me be perfectly clear on this subject – no Christian has any business believing in, dabbling with, or mentioning Karma.
The theory of Karma is a fundamental doctrine in Buddhism, not Christianity. Continue reading
The Victorious Crowd
When Texas high school playoffs begin, the crowd also begins to increase.
Moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even neighbors will drive several hours to watch the team play.
Anyone that knows anyone on the team will show up for the game. Continue reading
Marked!
They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. Rev 22:4
Remember the story The Scarlet Letter about a Puritan woman that committed adultery and was forced to wear a large “A” on her clothing as a sign to others of what she had done. Continue reading
What’d He call me?
I have been called many names in my life. With a name like Swanson you’re going to get called TV dinner, freezer man, the Schwann-man, and Swanee River.
With a name like Timothy you’ll get called Tim-bo, Timbuktu, Tim-buck-tooth, Timmy, Tim-Tim, and my favorite given to me by my cousin, Timpson.
And when I was young my parents loved to throw a few new names in the mix like Otis Timothy Michael O’Shea Gonzalez Pierre Swanson. (That one made me genealogically challenged when I was a kid) Continue reading
It cost…nothing!
A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will cost a day’s pay. Rev 6:6
I don’t like filling up the tank these days! It is getting more and more costly as the price of gas has risen everyday for the past 15 days. I know you know how it feels. Continue reading
Depend on the Father
Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Matt 18:3
Linda and I made a quick trip to Dallas and back after church on Sunday. We just had to see our grandson, Barrett. Continue reading
It’s only a number!
Do you have a favorite number?
I do, I always have. My preference is actually two numbers; 5 and 7 and probably stems from the fact that my birthday is May 7th.
There are many people that play a lottery using the same numbers over and over. And there have been a few instances of winners that played for years using the same series of numbers over and over. Continue reading
O, Say Can You See…Jesus
There was once a man sent to secure the release of a prisoner-of-war. He was successful but could not escort the man home until the enemy had ended an attack against an American fort.
During the night, there had been only occasional sounds of the fort’s guns returning fire. Continue reading
