I’m not sure I knew this but a step-family is called a blended family. Funny thing is I thought a blended family would be akin to a mixed-race family – a blending of races.
So I guess I have been a part of a blended family since I’ve had three step-dads and one step-mom. Continue reading

The Wife’s Role in the Marriage (and the husband has one too)
I remember several years ago there was a man named Danny that came to church. Danny was from Czechoslovakia and spoke with quite a thick accent. It was absolutely lovely.
One Wednesday night, in his thick accent he said, “De Bi-ble says dat… Continue reading
Whole Heartedly
I was telling someone the other day that you can only do one thing and put your whole heart into it – to do it with excellence.
Driving is a great example. By itself, you can do it very well. Add texting or talking and the results are completely different, as you learn from watching the evening news. Continue reading
Mom, the Lord is with you!
I was in a restaurant last week and the waitress, whom I have known since her birth, came over to take our order. I asked her, “When is the wedding date?”
She gave me a look and said, “I’m not even going out with anyone!” Continue reading
Mom’s Day
Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day of cards, flowers, and eating out for lunch. Many sermons will be given about moms.

We have only ever known raising girls; even after our granddaughter Haylee was born and we still only knew raising girls.
Then in 2004 our grandson, Braeden, was born. Continue reading
The Power of Say-er – The Power of Prayer
I have experienced the power of prayer firsthand. I know what it is like to be prayed for and I know what it is to pray for another.
The Bible says so much about prayer. Prayer is first mentioned in Genesis chapter 20 where Abimelech is told that Abram will pray for him. Continue reading
My role!
Linda and I celebrated 34 years of marriage on Saturday.
When we got married neither one of us knew what to expect from the other or ourselves.
It’s a constant growing process. Continue reading
The Helper
There was a time I worked for the telephone company and part of my job included going from house to house in a community and obtaining verbal permission for plowing an underground telephone cable to the house so the aerial could be removed. Continue reading
