Apologetics – Part 4

Over three years had passed since his conversion to Christianity from Judaism. He had visited Arabia, Damascus, and finally the birthplace of the church – Jerusalem. Continue reading

Whatever you do

He has done it again!

Last night Nik Walenda broke two world records by tightrope walking between three skyscrapers in Chicago, the windy city. One walk had a nineteen degree slant and the other walk he did blindfolded.

The event was promoted very heavily on other channels. In fact, my daughter, Kimberly and I watched one, which is how I knew about it.

The promotion highlighted some of Nik’s other accomplishments.

When he walks the tightrope, Nik can be heard saying, “I praise You, Jesus” and other accolades and prayers to God.

Kimberly misunderstood what he was saying. She thought he had said, “Crazy! Jesus!”, thinking he was telling the Savior that what he was doing was crazy.

To many it is! Both the tightrope walking and the calling on the Name of the Lord!

But Nik is following the scripture, which says,

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Col 3:17

It would be well for all of us to heed the same today and praise Jesus in all we do!

Abba, I praise You for this day. I praise You for my job, my family, my church, for the talents You have given me. May I always use it for Your honor and glory. In Jesus name, YES&AMEN

Depressed – Look Up!

The death of Robin Williams caught me by surprise. I found him a multi-talented comedian. He was lightning quick on delivery, while changing voices or subjects in a wink! Robin was made for improv!

Little did I know that such a talented man that could make so many others laugh had trouble laughing himself as he suffered with depression.

Prov 12:25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,

One of my first thoughts upon hearing about his death was his soul – did he know Jesus as Savior. It’s a question I can judge but not one I can answer.

Last night one of the ladies at church told me that while he was receiving an award, he pointed up and thanked his Father!

My response was maybe he was thanking his dad.

Uncertainty about the future can cause anxiety; and anxiety can cause depression.

Prov 12:25 But a good word makes it[the heart] glad.

I am not uncertain about my future. I have a good word from God’s word and I have given my life to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Col 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

That’s not to say that a Christian cannot be depressed. When you take your eyes off of Him and begin looking at the world around you, it can happen.

Keep looking up to Christ!

Abba, I pray for those suffering from depression. Please help me recognize them and share with them the only real Hope – Jesus! YES&AMEN

Chained to Christ

chain2Philem 13 – I am in these chains for preaching the Good News
Eph 6:20 – I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador.
2 Tim 2:9 – because I preach this Good News, I am suffering and have been chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained. Continue reading

Laodicea

LaodiceaCol 2:1 – I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally.

Col 4:13 – I can assure you that he prays hard for you and also for the believers in Laodicea and Hierapolis. Continue reading

If it’s called a Fast, then why is it so slow? (Pt 5)

Prayer&Fasting1clCol 3:15 – And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.

In the middle of a dead zone I get a text from Linda that said, “I’m so sorry! What a disappointment!”
That text would stop me from going any farther.

I stopped at the Broaddus Cemetery road on the edge of town and called.

Law of Moses 102 – A Christian Perspective

no seafoodThe Law of Moses seems like it is quite restrictive but it only is restrictive when it comes to sin.
For instance God said in the Law, “Of all the marine animals, these are ones you may use for food. You may eat anything from the water if it has both fins and scales, whether taken from salt water or from streams. But you must never eat animals from the sea or from rivers that do not have both fins and scales.” Lev 11:9-10 Continue reading

Do You Have the Courage?

Woman holding red apple on black backgroundDo you have the courage to stand for Christ – to stand for virtue and morality?
Christians are redeemed by Christ but not immune from temptation. But with the help of the Holy Spirit it is easier to fight off temptations.

So do you have the courage to face temptation and say, “No!”? Continue reading
