Steve on the right, and me on the left around 1976.

I’ve had many friends over the years. I remember the neighborhood kids Lil’ Pat, Johnny, Stevie, and Rusty. When I entered first grade and there were even more kids.

My best friend in 1st grade was Jack. I don’t remember his last name at all – just Jack. Continue reading

As children grow – worries grow!

stressed childLife can be very difficult. Think about it.
You are brought into this world and are taken care of.
Someone feeds you, clothes you, and cleans you up. All you have to do is watch TV, play, and maybe do a few chores as you get older. Continue reading

Selfishness is a relationship killer

selfishI said in a previous Thought that my parents got a divorce on my 12th birthday. Linda read that and said, “Why didn’t they give some thought to the process and not let it happen on your birthday?”
That answer is revealed later. Continue reading

Which nature will be nurtured?

child abuseThe innocence of children needs to be protected at all costs! Children need to be protected, not just from the sinful behavior of adults, but from that of other children.

I have always tried to watch my children very closely. I never let my guard down while in the mall or Wal-mart. I made sure they played in the yard.
However there are times when they were out of my sight playing with other children. This is where bad things can happen. Continue reading

We’d both stay at our grand-parents house and spend our days swinging on vines across a gully, building tree houses, shooting bow and arrows, and blazing a trail in the undiscovered forest near downtown Highlands. Continue reading

My cousin, Donna, in the early 1960's

My cousin, Donna, in the early 1960’s

Not long after a child is born he/she begins to be introduced to the family.

I was no different. Of course, there’s mom and dad, which I began to see every day and it didn’t take long to get use to them. Since we lived close to where both my parents had graduated, I had grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins fairly close. Continue reading

It’s like I remember mom carrying me to the car and putting my shoes on but I don’t remember anything else around that time.
I’m not very sure that I can remember things in the right order. Continue reading

Called early?

renault“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jer 1:5

Thinking way back, I never really thought that God had some purpose for me – though I do now!
I’ve always believed in God but did not accept the forgiveness offered by Jesus until I was almost 18 years old. Continue reading
