Get back to spiritual basics

This morning I was up at 3am and turned on the TV. Wagon Train was on and I tuned in just in time to hear this old man pray. It was quite a prayer. At the end of it he received an answer to his prayer and shouted, “Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!”

The show was filmed in 1961 and I thought how far we have gone off the straight and narrow path.

That became a subject last Wednesday evening. The American church and American Christian has become too sophisticated and has strayed away from God.

Other nations around the world are responding to the Gospel and seeing the evidence of the miraculous power of God.

I have heard testimonies of healings; even those being raised from the dead. None of these stories originate in the USA.

The word of God tells us why.

Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

The TV show from 1961 praised God in the dialogue. TV today curses Him.
Indeed we have left our first love.

Rev 3:17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked —

It is time for the American church to return back to the basics of God. Back to faith. Back to believing. Back to living in the bounds of Christianity!

Abba, in Jesus name I want to live in the Spirit and not in the physical! I want to return to the simplicity of the faith. YES&AMEN

Always Hope with Prayer

Matt 9:18 As Jesus was saying this, the leader of a synagogue came and knelt before him. “My daughter has just died,” he said, “but you can bring her back to life again if you just come and lay your hand on her.”

What faith this dad had! You know he has to be very distraught that his only daughter has died – she is daddy’s little girl Continue reading

How can I pray for you today?

humbleI don’t know what led me to Nehemiah this morning. I could say I was looking for an answer to a question but I believe I’ll just say it was the Holy Spirit.

I actually started at the middle of the book and skimmed backward until I came to the first chapter. Continue reading

The Fast Fast! (pt 1)

courtney1So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and fasting. Dan 9:3

Allow me to talk about a different kind of fasting, which I did several Morning Thoughts ago.
There is a young lady that I have known since she was 5 years old. She is like a member of my family. Her name is Courtney. Continue reading

If it’s called a Fast, then why is it so slow? (Pt 6)

fastingforGodThe strange thing about humbling yourself before God with prayer and fasting – it will make you do strange things.

I found myself waking up praying at 3am. I did not wake up to pray. I was awakened by praying in my sleep or something like that. Continue reading

If it’s called a Fast, then why is it so slow? (Pt 5)

Prayer&Fasting1clCol 3:15 – And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.

In the middle of a dead zone I get a text from Linda that said, “I’m so sorry! What a disappointment!”
That text would stop me from going any farther.

I stopped at the Broaddus Cemetery road on the edge of town and called.

Transformed by Prayer

transformed by prayerYou may spend an incredible amount of time on the phone, texting, or on Facebook.
If you were to guess how much time you spent doing these things – what would be your estimation.
I know some that always get close to the limit on their thousand minute plan. Continue reading

Prayer’s Power!

praying1Do you believe there is power in prayer?
If you are going to claim the words of Paul and say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13) then you need to stand by that claim. Continue reading
