Good Morning!
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

I was watching the TV last night when a commercial for The Discovery Channel came on.
It ran through images of animals, fish, jungles, ancient architecture, polar ice caps, and so on.
It was very well done and quite entertaining.
It made you want to see some of those programs. Continue reading

Good Morning!
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

I have been pastor at CrossRoads for 9 years.
A lot can happen in 9 years.
I’ve seen many come and go and a few went before they arrived.
I suppose every church has a large turnover but in our case we don’t keep track of it. Continue reading

… that He might present her to Himself a glorious church , not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
Eph 5:27
Today is the 9th anniversary of CrossRoads Christian Center.
I never really intended to start a church but to have a central place where Christians of all denominations could gather in praise, worship, and fellowship. Continue reading

Fireproof

Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases. Prov 26:20

Linda and I got to see Fireproof, the movie from the same church that did Facing The Giants.

I thought it was an excellent movie.

The Fireproof website describes the movie in this way.

At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter’s adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage to Catherine, he lives by his own rules.

Regular arguments over jobs, finances, housework, and outside interests have readied them both to move on to something with more sparks.

As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb’s father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment: “The Love Dare.” Wondering if it’s even worth the effort, Caleb agrees-for his father’s sake more than for his marriage. When Caleb discovers the book’s daily challenges are tied into his parents’ newfound faith, his already limited interest is further dampened.

While trying to stay true to his promise, Caleb becomes frustrated time and again. He finally asks his father, “How am I supposed to show love to somebody who constantly rejects me?”

When his father explains that this is the love Christ shows to us, Caleb makes a life-changing commitment to love God. And with God’s help he begins to understand what it means to truly love his wife.

But is it too late to fireproof his marriage? His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb Holt is ready to face his toughest job ever…rescuing his wife’s heart.

What I noticed most was that Caleb got to the point where he provided no fuel for the fire and the strife ended.

The same will hold true for you.

I remember what a pastor friend once said, “Without death there can be no reconciliation.”

That not only holds true for God but for you too!

For a husband and wife, co-workers, or siblings to have reconciliation and forgiveness, one of them must die to the other.

Remove the word and let the fire go out.

Drink up, stay fit!

…how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God. Deut 25:18
Two nights ago I awakened at 1 o’clock in the morning.
I couldn’t get back to sleep and became really run down during the day, tired and weary.
As a result my immune system became weak and I am sick with achy all over, sinuses pounding, itchy eyes, and a sore throat.
I know the preventative medicine for this but became a straggler.
I have long believed that drinking water, lots of water, can help fight off allergies and colds.
But I became a straggler and was attacked when I did wasn’t looking.
Though the scripture is specific about Amalek and Israel, I can’t help but feel that it also refers to Satan and us.
He always attacks on our unsuspecting side, when we are straggling and at our most tired, weakest moment.
He does not fear God and that would make him a fool.
He will cause us to become sick in sin.
The preventative is the same for our spirit as it is for the body.
Jesus said, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10
I don’t feel like ministering right now.
I feel like going back to bed and pulling the covers over my head.
That’s exactly what Satan would like for us to do in our spiritual life too.
But wellness is found with a drink of living water.
Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14

So thankful someone is looking out for me!

As you know by now, Congress has passed the $700 billion dollar bailout meant to help the economic crisis of our country.
I am so glad that someone on capital hill is looking out for me.
Included in the bill are some “sweeteners” that’s sure to put a few bucks back in my pocket. (he says tongue-in-cheek)
There are tax credit breaks for such narrowly focused groups as motor sports racetrack owners, film producers and bicycle commuters .
There is a credit allows certain corporations operating in American Samoa a tax credit.
The bailout bill would give a tax break to Exxon Valdez plaintiffs.
A rebate against excise taxes charged on rum imported from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
A proposal would exempt from the excise tax any shaft consisting of all natural wood with no laminations or artificial means to enhance the spine of the shaft used in the manufacture of an arrow that measures 5/16 of an inch or less and is unsuited for use with a bow with a peak draw weight of 30 pounds or more. (I knew someone would get the shaft!)
There is one that allows employers to provide a benefit to employees for costs associated with bicycle commuting, including purchase and repair of a bicycle, bicycle improvements, and bicycle storage.
Transfers interest earned on money in the abandoned mine reclamation fund to the United Mine Workers of America Combined Benefit Fund, which helps pay health benefits for retired miners and their dependents who worked under collective bargaining agreements that promised lifetime health-care benefits.
Current law allows taxpayers to write-off 50% of the cost of any facility placed in service before January 1, 2013 that produces cellulosic ethanol.  This provision expands the types of facilities that may be written-off to include production of other cellulosic biofuels in addition to cellulosic ethanol.
You can get the most benefit by being an oily-rum drinking-bow hunting-Hollywood-bicycle commuter working in American Somoa.
God said it best; Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen, and I will tell you where to get food that is good for the soul! Isa 55:2
I’m so thankful someone is looking out for me and it’s God!

Dividing right from wrong

Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim

Good Morning!
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

There is a lesson from God’s word that will help you make the right choices.
It is a lesson that will help you discern good from evil.
This can help whether your church is seeking a pastor, mediating a dispute, or voting for president.
And the king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to one, and half to the other.”
Then the woman whose son was living spoke to the king, for she yearned with compassion for her son; and she said, “O my lord, give her the living child, and by no means kill him!”
But the other said, “Let him be neither mine nor yours, but divide him.”
1 Kings 3:25-26
Right and wrong can be determined by who speaks for life and who speaks for destruction.
Watch and listen to those around you!
The ones that speak condemnation are calling for judgment.
Those that speak blessing are calling for mercy.
Is this Biblical?
Refresh your memory by reading John 8:1-11.
