Chosen In Christ

morning thoughts

Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

On yesterdays radio program, I was privileged to have Amy Downey as my guest.
She is a Christian evangelist to the Jewish people.
I, for one, cannot think of a better effort than to reach God’s chosen, though I believe He chooses us in Christ; He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world Eph 1:4
But if it was before the foundation of the world, then He also chose the Jews in Christ and that is the real tragedy.
Out of the 15 million Jews in the world only 1% have accepted Jesus as Messiah.
According to Amy the Jews don’t read Isaiah 53 or Daniel 9:24-27.
To read them is to be convicted that Jesus is the Messiah.
Since she has studied both Judaism and Christianity, I decided to ask her a question.
You see I believe that if we [Christians] come up with a belief or doctrine from the Old Testament that has nothing to do with the Messiah-ship of Jesus, then it must also be something the Jews would accept.
So I asked her about the idea that Satan (the serpent) had sexual relations with Eve and fathered Cain.
She told me the idea was preposterous and that it is not even backed up by scripture.
For those that believe such, it only proves another scripture; And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 2 Thess 2:11
Perhaps I have taken this somewhat out of context but the truth is Satan is at work to counterfeit the Word of God.
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. 1 Tim 4:1
The delusion is strong enough to keep the Jewish people from believing Jesus is Messiah and it is strong enough to deceive Christians into believing there is more to the Bible than what is already there.
