God's Timing Not Ours

Saturday afternoon I was in Broaddus to meet gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina.
I was invited to open in prayer but things did not turn out as expected.
First, Debra’s mother-in-law passed away and so she had to cancel the engagement.
The meeting would go on but with a fill in speaker.
As we gathered around 3pm, word came that the fill-in speaker was involved in an automobile accident less than a mile from the meeting.
Several went down to the scene and since two cars were involved the DPS had to be called.
As it turned out the meeting had to be cancelled though I insisted we still have prayer; and we did.
Perhaps all this was for the best.
There were very few on hand as the weather was a little nasty and Mrs. Medina could not attend.
The next meeting will be in February and this may give more time to get the word out and prepare.
While we cannot see the hand of God we know that He is at work.
In the Bible we read that Isaiah says, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the LORD.” Isa 40:3
800 years later a man named John repeated the phrase; He said:”I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Make straight the way of the LORD,”‘ as the prophet Isaiah said.” John 1:23
It took less than a millennium for the prophecy to be fulfilled; giving plenty of time for preparation.
I know that I was really looking for Jesus to return last Yom Teruah but it did not happen.
Which is perfectly ok; it gives more time to prepare for when He does return.
I also believe that many times things do go according to our plans so that there is time to fall in step with God’s plans!

  1. Debra Medina is tentatively scheduled for February 13, 2009 to come to the Broaddus Community Center to speak. Our prayers are with her during this time, as her Mother In Law passed away, and she had to cancel. Prayers are with the representative who made a valiant effort to appear in her place as well, and had an unfortunate auto accident within one mile of the Center, as he was attempting to appear in Debra’s place. We will have another opportunity to hear Debra Medina speak. For that we are grateful, and may His wishes be fulfilled, regarding our endeavors to make available information on Debra Medina. All are welcome to come, and there will be notices going on ahead of time as we firm up that speaking date.
