What Drove Them To Do It?

Two men have been arrested for allegedly setting fire to churches in the east Texas area.
If this is true about the two, then what drove them to do this?
Both of them attended a Baptist church in the past and one of the pastors said that there were no problems that would hint their lives are going this direction.
One of the young men was quiet and kept to himself.
The other was a state champion in debate, is very intelligent and had a knack for biblical literature.
A former UT Tyler teacher said that he could quote Bible verses verbatim.
So, what changed?
It changes everyday and when you allow it to change you, that can have adverse affects.
It has been said that one of the men changed 3 years ago after the death of his mom.
The other young man Facebooked that he was angry with religion; that he went to church only because it was what he was suppose to do.
He felt like he was a social outcast and part of the reason he rejected Christianity is because of the way Christians treated him.
I had a man tell me one time that Christians are mean.
I couldn’t argue with him; not when I knew the bunch that he was talking about.
What is the key ingredient to the makeup of a Christian?
Here is what Paul said, “If I could speak in any language in heaven or on earth but didn’t love others, I would only be making meaningless noise like a loud gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I knew all the mysteries of the future and knew everything about everything, but didn’t love others, what good would I be? And if I had the gift of faith so that I could speak to a mountain and make it move, without love I would be no good to anybody. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would be of no value whatsoever.”1 Cor 13:1-3
God spoke more on love than any other subject in His word.
I’ll be the first to admit that it is very hard to love the mean, evil, utterly sinful of the world, but they didn’t start out that way!
Let’s continue that thought next time.

  1. People do unloveable things. As a people we want to return the favor with quoted scripture. Or only think of talking to them cause we don’t want to hurt their feelings. GOD IS GOOD! If we will seek His wisdom, He will be with our mouths when we speak to a matter. So much hurt can be deverted if we’d seek God’s wisdom, listen and respond accordingly. Indeed, why, what, when. There is the starting point that caused a person to act out violently. What does poking fun of someone do to them that we don’t see? What about not standing up for someone? We think to much of self first. Christ was not thinking of self, not even when the nails were being hammered into His flesh. According to the Scriptures we are to have the mind of Christ. Are we not?!!!
