Follow God

Yesterday I worked all day and I returned at midnight to work all night.
Sometimes I get asked how I can do that.
I must admit that the older I get, the harder it is to do it.
For years I have got up anywhere from 4:30 to 5am.
I usually spend the time before work, reading my Bible, watching the news, and having coffee with Linda.
If something is important to you, you’ll do it.
If you enjoy hunting, you’ll get up before dawn to get on the deer stand.
If you enjoy fishing, you’ll get up while it’s still dark to get the boat to the launch.
I enjoy serving God and that isn’t really an 8 to 5 job.
If you are a follower of God, you’ll do whatever He asks, whenever He asks.
I recall a story from the Bible where Peter and the guys had been fishing all night and caught nothing.
Jesus asked them to cast their nets on the other side of their boat.
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” Luke 5:5-8
When we faithfully follow God and do His word, we will be astonished, humbled, and happy.
