As we were reading in 1 Timothy during Sunday school, one of the ladies found a verse that, she says, has helped her immensely.
For bodily exercise profits a little. 1 Tim 4:8
That verse gives her the power and excuse not to exercise, ever again!
While bodily exercise can be very beneficial for your health, inevitably you will die.
The body is not immortal but the soul is.
That is why the verse continues with but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. 1 Tim 4:8
However the Bible does speak of many others types of exercise.
Exercise yourself toward godliness. 1 Tim 4:7
They must exercise self-control and be faithful in everything they do. 1 Tim 3:11
Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. Titus 2:2
So think clearly and exercise self-control. 1 Peter 1:13
Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 1 Cor 8:9
So though you may not exercise with weights, jogging, or aerobics; you are still called to exercise your faith!
