Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15
We must ask “according to His will”.
But what is the will of God?
How can you know what His will is for you?
Is it God’s will for you to go to college, to get married, to change jobs, or take a cruise?
While I believe God is concerned with what you are doing in your life, I don’t think those are the high priorities for God.
First of all you must realize that #1 on God’s will list is salvation and most aren’t considering marriage as an evangelical move.
The Lord is … not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
It is not God’s will for anyone to perish, that is, die without the forgiveness of sin available only through Jesus.
If He is not willing that anyone should perish, then you should not be willing for anyone either.
…this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; John 6:40
Underneath that basic primary will of God are the sub-wills, if you please.
I’ll take a look at more of this next time.
Salvation is #1 that’s why God sent His Son. The Son ministered with His life. There are times when it is clear that the desicion I’m asking about is OK either way. God does extend faith and trust to us. When our minds are renewed and we’re walking in the WORD our thoughts are pleasing to Father God. I know also that people know when they are not Christ minded!
