The Power Of God's Word

Though I know the strength of God’s word, it never fails to amaze me the power that it has over people.
While we banter about with idle words of thought, philosophy, and political views, we get nowhere.
But when we introduce the living word of God, we began to see a difference and change in those we speak to.
Recently I was corresponding with someone about the religious views of the Founding Fathers.
However I failed to introduce the view of the Heavenly Father into the conversation.
This is a big mistake on my part.
The other person kept asking a question that I, nor anyone else wanted to address.
I finally revealed what God had said and I haven’t heard from the other party again.
Jesus was terrific at using scripture.
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: Matt 21:42
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38
Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. Matt 22:29
And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.'” Matt 21:13
Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: Matt 26:31
This powerful trait of using scripture was passed down to the apostles, which Paul used liberally.
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Rom 1:17
As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.” 2 Cor 8:15
I cannot stress enough, including for myself, the importance of scripture for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Tim 3:16-17

  1. Hello Tim! This is Patti Barnes….Cathy Hopson’s sister…..just wanted to ask for prayer for Brent and also for Cathy and my sister Janice as they head to MD Anderson this morning to begin his treatments. I know God is healing him as we speak, so we just pray they arrive safely this morning and God’s work can begin. Thanks so much!

  2. “It is written” is a powerful weapon. Jesus Himself used it when the devil tempted Him. Jesus did it, and He is our example, we also should address our troubles with the Word of God. The power & authorty is in the Word!
