Anything Can Be Fixed

I told a couple last night that I can fix anything!
That’s a pretty big statement and deals more with life and relationships than it does mechanics and electronics.
The reality of it is I’m not actually the one doing the repair work on life, it is God.
I just simply point out what the Bible says and move on from there.
I recall a couple that came to me for marriage counseling.
I’ll admit I’m not a professional marriage counselor; not even close.
Nevertheless, I agreed to help them.
I started with something really, really simple.
After assuring me they both knew Jesus as Savior, I told both of them that I wanted each to pray with the other, for the other.
How hard can that be!
A week later we met again and I asked had they been praying together for each other.
The answer was no.
The marriage failed.
They divorced not long after.
They were not willing to remove the inhibitions to even pray with each other or for each other.
I am foolish enough to believe that the Bible holds the answers to life and I try to use it for myself and my ministry.
I base my counseling of this couple on 1 scripture; pray for one another, that you may be healed. James 5:16
But they couldn’t!
I know the whole scripture says confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16
And perhaps I should have had each one confess his/her faults to the other before praying together. However I thought that while one confessed the other would be too agreeable and a fight would ensue.
Besides, they couldn’t even pray for each other for each other.

  1. Sounds like pride kept repentance at bay. I went to a marriage counselor once. Wow. I trurned his questions on him. He shookingly answered them. TO PERSONAL! I went to my pastor. He opened his Bible…long story short, nothing personal asked. Only scripture given. God revealed the root, and healing began. I am healed and can minister to others in this area. If God is not center in the counseling then we know what happens when the blind leads the blind.

  2. Any chance of having Tim & Mark back on 7-8 mornings? That was my favorite hour. That was the only local time on air.

The rest of the time I have to listen… always family…family. Seems we have more seniors in Lufkin thatn young familes. Nothing for us. We can get James Dobson on any Christian station. Need soemthing unique for Lufkin.
