Guidance In Reading

What keeps Christians from reading the book that has given them forgiveness and eternal life?
What keeps them from reading about the miracles?
What keeps them from reading about ministering?
The Bible is a living word that is like no other.
God’s word transforms!
More than likely the reason so many don’t read is they don’t understand.
Such was the case of an Ethiopian.
And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship, was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”
So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” Acts 8:27-31
While he was reading, he lacked understanding and needed guidance.
Guidance comes from God’s ministers like pastors and teachers; men and women gifted with understanding God’s word.
It should incite the individual Christian to read from themselves that word and pray for understanding.
As it is written as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 1 Peter 2:2-3
Far too many have stayed on the milk of the word and have never ventured into the meat of the word.
This stunts Christian growth.
Paul addressed this in 1 Cor 3:2-3; I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?
Lack of reading keeps you in a carnal (worldly) mind.
Do you want to be closer to God? Do you want to know more about Him?
Read His word!
