The Wedding

I performed a wedding Saturday night for a new couple in our church, Casey and Lindsey.
There is so much that goes into a wedding.
There’s the rehearsal with the wedding coordinator running around, directing, and instructing everyone on where, when, and how!
Afterwards there was a huge rehearsal dinner at the groom’s parent’s house.
This dinner consisted of rib-eye steaks, potatoes, and dessert.
Then there’s the wedding itself with its pre-vow jitters for the bride and groom.
The photographer taking pictures, the coordinator still directing, and the caterers busy putting the last minute touches on the food.
The decorating had been done early; tables and chairs set up, candles lit, and everyone dressed in their best.
Then the moment comes; a couple of ‘I do’s’ and a kiss later there is a married couple.
But it’s not the end.
More pictures, cut the cake, feed the cake, and smear the cake.
There is the first dance of the new couple.
Drinking punch and eating the food.
It won’t end until the couple gets into their marked up, messed up vehicle and drives off to honeymoonland.
Even then there are parents and relatives staying behind to clean things up.
A lot goes into a wedding.
All my Christian life I’ve heard of the Marriage supper of the Lamb.
Rev 19:9 says; Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!'”
If so much work goes into a wedding down here; how much better and awesome will be that Wedding!
Though the Bible doesn’t say a lot about this heavenly ceremony, it does reveal in Ephesians 5 the parallel between a husband and his wife to that of Christ and the church.
Needless to say, if God is putting it together, it will outdo anything done on earth.
Don’t miss out this wedding. Accept Jesus as Savior.
