Testimony: Forgiveness

I have a testimony or two; one is a search of forgiveness and the other is a search of thanks.
Testimony: Forgiveness.
For a few years I harbored a deep hatred in my heart for a young man.
At least that’s the way I remembered him.
He was an early teen when my mother would babysit him and his sister.
I was in the single digits, though I cannot tell you exactly how old I was.
The young man was an abuser and molester and his actions towards me really caused me some problems in my teenage years.
Abuse begets abuse.
Once I accepted Jesus as my Savior at the age of 17, I began to look back and see what I had done that brought me to this point in my life.
I became angry because I saw a lot of my issues were a result of that young man from a decade, or so, earlier.
I hated him and wished I could run into him sometime; I wanted to kill him, if you can imagine that.
Then the day came I happened upon a scripture; Mark 11:25-26 – And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.
I had to forgive him!
I wished I could run into him sometime and tell him that I forgive him.
Fast forward to last month; I found a familiar name while doing a search on Facebook.
It was the name of his sister.
I messaged her and she informed me that she was indeed who I thought she was.
I inquired about her family.
Her mom, dad, and brother are all dead.
I never got to forgive him to his face, but I did in my heart. I am at peace with him, myself, and God.
There has been a Facebook picture or status going around lately; HOLDING A GRUDGE IS LETTING SOMEONE LIVE RENT-FREE IN YOUR HEAD.
Holding a grudge is unforgiveness!
Unforgiveness holds you back from moving forward with God; read the scripture again.
So if there is someone in your life that has done you wrong; forgive that person.
Do it in person, if possible, but definitely in your heart!
Tomorrow I will give Testimony: Thanks.

  1. I too had to go back to early childhood. Only with the help of the Holy Spirit was I able to release the hurt and forgive. That’s when true healing occured. God is so good, so gentel. He accepts us with all the garbage, and slowly works with us to repare us sometimes taking years. Father will wait untill we are strong enough to face the ugliness’ in our hearts. I recieve more of His love daily. Oh. how I love Jesus.
