Your talent from God

Last week I wrote about Top Shot Season 3 winner Dustin Ellerman.
I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing him for the radio.
He is a super nice, humble guy.
Of course the subject of Top Shot came up and I asked him had he ever competed in any shooting contest.
He has not!
Dustin went head-to-head against contestants that either had been competing or had been trained to use firearms, like law enforcement and military.
What Dustin has is a natural skill and ability; a talent from God.
In the Bible it is mentioned about Bezalel; I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, intelligence, and skill in all kinds of crafts. He is able to create beautiful objects from gold, silver, and bronze. He is skilled in cutting and setting gemstones and in carving wood. Yes, he is a master at every craft! Ex 31:3-5 NLT
It’s funny that the Israelites, which had been slaves for 400 years, had such marvelous skills and talents; truly a gift from God.
Each person has is skilled in some way or another.
Many choose to develop and hone the skill; others squander them.
The best skilled are the ones that recognize the gift as from God and use it to give Him honor and help others.
Not all talents are the same.
I can shoot pretty well but I don’t think I’m in the same league as Dustin.
I can preach, definitely a gift from God, but Dustin told me that, though he can speak and give a testimony about God, he doesn’t preach.
Different gifts given to different people for one sole purpose – glorify God!
We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us — a sphere which especially includes you. For we are not overextending ourselves (as though our authority did not extend to you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of Christ; not boasting of things beyond measure, that is, in other men’s labors, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere, to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s sphere of accomplishment. But “he who glories, let him glory in the LORD.” For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends. 2 Cor 10:13-18
So whether you shoot guns, DJ on the radio, carpentry work, or teach school, whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men. Col 3:23

  1. Had it not been for Bro. Dustin Ellerman’s need for finances, for the camp, would we ever had known of him? I believe no one crosses my path without a divine reason. For now I pray for the success of the camp. That is that many will find Christ, wheather as Saviour or Friend. God is willing to change &/ strengthen lives for His glory. Even those of children. God bless Dustin Elderman & family.

  2. If you haven’t seen Camp His Way, at least visit the web site. This is a good work and very rich soil for those who feel called to sow into children’s ministry. Our prayer is that $100K is just the down payment of what God will do with that camp.
