Don’t compromise!

For the past 3 days the topic has been karma.
I have heard some say that it’s ok to believe in a watered down version of something as long as you believe and put your faith in Jesus first.
It’s not just a reference to karma by Christians on Facebook; I am troubled by Christian’s posting horoscopes also.
You may say that I’m too strict; that I need to loosen up and a little bit karmalite or horoscope is just harmless fun!
I’ll remind you of what is written in Deut 6:4-5 – Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
Jesus then reiterated the same thing; Mark 12:30 – You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. That leaves no room for any other love, faith, or belief in anything else.
Whole heart means with a person’s whole being; with everything they are.
It’s not a watered down version that a Christian is playing around with; it’s their faith in Jesus that gets watered down.
Would you eat a brownie from a pan that was 3’ long and 2’ wide – that’s 6 square feet of brownies; a very big batch.
But in the brownie mix was placed just one pinch of dog poop; just a little, itty-bitty bit!
Now would you eat any brownie from that batch?
It’s the same with mixing non-Biblical belief into a Biblical life.
It is written false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough! Gal 5:9
I believe in having fun but not at the expense of compromising my relationship with Jesus. I spend a great deal of time in His word and in prayer but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a good time geocaching, taking pictures, or even watching TV or surfing the Internet; but I strive to be careful with what I read, look at, and watch!

  1. Great analogy Pastor Tim. All I can say is Praise the Lord Jesus Christ and what a perfect analogy you made. I hope that all can understand the severity of compromising or as you put it, “watering down” their Faith.

  2. Jesus wants those who are willing to risk what others think of them for His sake. A growing , and espicaly a mutured, saint can see what is being lost with divided love, & attenation. Those standing still are willingly standing in a fog. God’s love is growing, moving, so must we. With or without understanding if God said it, I believe it! I stand strongest on the Word of God. Not mans word or ways. My firm stand has not been without opposion, some very large, lots of small ones. HEY, I met GOD the SON ! I am not throwing that away, nor watering it down. HE loves me!
