For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods. Ex 7:12
These are very deceitful times we live in; but then it has always been that way.
Imagine what people would think to see a man say he speaks for God and is able to perform miracles.
Then others are able to do the same things but make no godly claim.
This is what Moses and Aaron faced and so do you and I.
There have been so many claims by others to be a Christ or Messiah. There have been other claims that dispute the reality of who Jesus is, especially on the TV channels.
But the Word of God will swallow up the words of all others; we need to just give it the opportunity.
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers, over their ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they may become blood. Ex 7:19
Although the magicians of Egypt copied many of Moses’ miracles, just keep in mind the Word of God will swallow up the words of all others.
Moses and Aaron didn’t need to be concerned about the copycats; their concern was doing God’s will.
Neither of them, immediately after the snake incident, ran down to the Nile and said, “Watch this!”
Neither of them threatened the others with, “Wait until God gets done…you’ll see!”
What they did was wait for God to speak and act according to His word.
The time came when Moses and Aaron took soot from a brick kiln and went and stood before Pharaoh. As Pharaoh watched, Moses threw the soot into the air, and boils broke out on people and animals alike. Even the magicians were unable to stand before Moses, because the boils had broken out on them and all the Egyptians. Ex 9:10-11
The copycats were defeated! They could no longer stand before the man of God.
The Word of God had swallowed up their word.
The miracles of God had swallowed up the tricks of men.
All Moses and Aaron did was obey God.
The same is true for you.
Do not concern yourself with what a TV special may say or with the rants of some pseudo-pastor with a prosperity complex. God’s word will swallow them up!
You need to concern yourself with swallowing God’s word. Learn it, get it in your heart and mind and do what God asks of you.
smitten and not in a good way were those “magicians”
