This will be my last Morning Thought for a few days. Linda and I will be going on a cruise tomorrow and will be somewhere in the Caribbean.
Neither of us have ever been on a cruise before. In fact, the only boats we’ve been on would be a bass boat or a ferry.
But I have seen pictures of the ship we will board, though I don’t think those pictures do it justice. Yet, even seeing the pictures, I think of that verse of scripture that says a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. James 3:4-5
I realize that I cruise every day with what I say. With my mouth I can curse or with it I can bless.
And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! James 3:10-11
James is right when he says it isn’t right. With my mouth I can lead others to rough seas and a rocky shore or I can help with smooth sailing.
One thing I have been trying to learn is to bless and do not curse. Rom 12:14
So as I “cruise” through today, I’m going to ask the Lord to help me make it a better day for someone else.
