I must admit that sometimes I’m a little dense.
I consider myself a strong, resourceful Christian. (Boy, that’s really a humble statement)
I am able to do most of what is expected of me with little effort and this has led to a spiritually dangerous situation.

For instance, it is easy for me to get up on Sunday and go to church in the morning and on Wednesday evening. I know it is expected. The problem is I can come down on some others pretty harshly who do not and I cannot comprehend why they can’t. All anyone has to do to go to church is get up and put one foot in front of the other.

So when I, in my ease, rebuke someone in their in hardship, I judge them according to my standard not God’s. That’s a red flag.
Jesus also rebuked others but did it in such a loving way as to teach them what they need to do.
I recall the day a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Mt. 17:14-21

This passage from God’s Holy Word tells me that servitude and humility begin with prayer and fasting. To be used by God in a way that relates to others must be done in a humble, loving, but uncompromising way.

We should never compare ourselves to the ones we witness to because it makes it sound like we are bragging or lording over them.
If we are to reach the lost and redirect the flock we must pray and fast and allow God to work through us.
As soon as we stop looking at ourselves and looking to Jesus, we will move from dangerous ground to holy ground.
