While watching a new Ten Commandments movie, I was reading my Bible at the same time just to check up on one of the details of the movie that I didn’t remember reading in the Bible. (You know how that artistic license goes!)

While reading the Bible, my eyes landed upon a verse I just don’t remember reading but found very intriguing; no one may appear before me without an offering. Ex 34:20

I stopped! Totally stopped!
That is one of the most incredible scriptures that I have read in a while.

Under the Law many different offerings were required for the remission of sin. Offering is still required for you to be made right with God.
This is what has happened – For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. 2 Cor 5:21

You no longer have to show up before God with a lamb, goat, a dove, or a bushel of grain; you can now show up with Jesus. He is your offering.
You cannot appear before God empty handed. You must have an offering that is pleasing to God and Jesus is very pleasing.

You are also encouraged to make yourself an offering.
I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Rom 12:1-2

You can’t do it on your own – you need Jesus.
You don’t want to be caught standing before God without Him.
No one may appear before me without an offering.
