Drifting away – Walking back

James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

Last summer the grandchildren and I were swimming off the coast of Florida. We had boogie boards and were enjoying a day of surfing.

It was fun and because of that I didn’t pay close attention to my location – I just surfed.

Then I looked towards the shore and noticed that we were no longer in front of our condo, where we had started.

Because of the current and the angle of the surf to the beach, the waves would push us down the beach. Each time we surfed in and walked out we were a bit farther away.

I’ve noticed that sin is like that. You tend to have so much fun doing it that you don’t notice how far it causes you to drift away from God.

Sin, like waves and the ocean current, will sweep you away! You have to walk back to God.

Abba Father, I look up and see how far I have drifted from you. I want to walk back – I need to walk back – I have to walk back. In Jesus’ name, YES&AMEN
