Are you willing to do all that God asks and desires of you?
Mary was told she was going to carry the Messiah. Her response was
Let it be to me according to your word. Luke 1:38
She was unmarried and still living at home when she was approached.
For Paul,
“Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.” Acts 23:11
There were those in Jerusalem that wanted him dead. And to get to Rome would take and appeal to Caesar, which cost him his life.
He went.
For Moses,
“Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Ex 3:10
In Egypt he was a wanted man. He had plenty of excuses not to go and God had plenty of answers for him to go!
He went.
For Elijah,
“Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place.” 1 Kings 19:15-16
Jezebel had promised to kill him so he went into hiding. Now God was calling him out to anoint kings and prophets.
He went!
Every one of these individuals were willing to do something that may have been against their nature or self preservation.
It’s because they realized that being in the service of God is much better than being in the service of yourself.
Though the decision to follow God can cost your dearly – even your life. But not following God will cost you dearly also – even more so.
As He has said,
I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jer 29:11
Abba, I want to be doing Your will, no matter the cost. In Jesus name, YES&AMEN
