Preaching to the World

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15

This thought occurred to me.

Every so often someone will bring up a question about those that never hear the Gospel of Christ and their disposition on judgment day.

Missionaries are usually unrecognized and unheralded. Sure you hear about Pastor Saeed in Iran only because of social media. What if there were no social media, satellite delivery of news, radio, TV, or the Internet?
We’d be back in a non-technological age of slow traveling news and only that which is deemed important is repeated.
I doubt missionaries carrying the Gospel would be at the top of that list.

So what if there were missionaries taking God’s word to foreign lands?

Jonah did it, though a bit reluctantly. But his preaching had a massive effect.

The people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Jonah 3:5

Then there’s Daniel and although he was a captive he used his situation to present the Good News about God.

But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Dan 2:28

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to believe that God’s message has always been sent to the nations of the world.

But as it often happened that God’s own people (the Hebrews) would kill the messenger (the prophets), so would other nations.

And then there is Satan, always desiring to change the truth into a lie. Even Paul ran up against this after he had preached the Gospel to the Galatians.

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. Gal 1:6-7

Satan looks to pervert the Gospel into a common, self-serving message that has no power of repentance, forgiveness, or salvation in it.

God’s word has prevailed through the ages and will prevail in the future.
