Last time I looked at the spreading of the Gospel to the nations.
With the preaching of God’s word always comes the chance of change. All it take s is someone to alter the pure message of the Bible.
This is one reason for so many denominations and doctrines from the same basic source.
The perversion of the Gospel to the Galatians was address by Paul.
He reports the pure word was preached by himself but it wasn’t soon before others came in and maintained that obedience to the Law was a necessity alongside the salvation of grace.
This idea of mixing Law and grace became a confusing and misdirected message.
Even great church leaders participated to some extent in the spreading of this idea.
Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. Gal 2:11-13
Thank goodness Paul was around to address the problems of the Galatians. Of course his epistles are all books of the Bible that address problems in the churches of his day.
Still the word has been changed by interpretation.
One group says the gifts of the Spirit are done away with and another group says they are a necessity to the life of a believer.
There are differences over baptism and the return of the Lord; differences on the offices of the church and differences about Communion.
These differences should not exist! But they do.
If only we could look past the differences and see the One that has made us all different – JESUS!
If only we could keep our mind and heart on Him!
If only we would cease to fight among ourselves and preach the Gospel to the world.
