Technology can’t do everything!

Mankind is inventive. Look at how much technology has changed in the years you have lived.

When you think back to the beginning of the human race, they had nothing. Adam and Eve were created naked but became resourceful enough to sew fig leaves together.

In a matter of seven generations you see the creativity of people.

And Adah bore Jabal. He was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock. His brother’s name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who play the harp and flute. And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron. Gen 4:20-22

Suddenly there are farmers, musicians, and craftsmen. Since that time his inventiveness has been virtually limitless – even to the point that some ancient mysteries on how things were built exist today!

I remember studying certain inventions in school things like Eli Whitney and the cotton gin, Cyrus McCormick and the harvester, and Robert Fulton and steamboat travel.

Now look around! Most inventions are technological rather than mechanical. I’ve seen the first computer in the Smithsonian. It was a huge as a bedroom and did little more than a calculator. The laptop I’m using this morning is probably more powerful than the one that landed the Eagle on the moon.

We have incorporated it’s use into all areas of life.

Most radio stations are computer controlled. I know all of our music is on a harddrive. So are the programs. Computers control when each is played and keeps a record of the date and time when it was played.

I use a computer and projector to show the words to songs and Bible scriptures at church.

What would happen if that technology was lost?

Yesterday I found out at church since the computer crashed.

I had to use a song book and a Bible. People had to open their Bibles to read along with me or trust that what I was reading was correct.
I’ll admit I felt hampered a bit. I didn’t have the freedom I’m use to – especially during the song service.

I like computers but I know what happens when the one at the bank shuts down or the one at the grocery store crashes. But mankind is inventive and finds a way to work around.

But technology and inventions can’t do everything!

There is no work around or invention to get rid of sin and give salvation. That’s one thing you’ve got to do the old fashioned way – accept Jesus as your personal Savior and seek forgiveness for your sin.

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Rom 10:9-10
